Bass Drum

The first bass drum invented was found to be in the early 14th century, and was known as the Turkish drum to the west until the early 19th century when the most famous drum used today was invented (the kick drum). The first bass drum found to be created in the 14th century was made by wrapping a cord around a gigantic shell to produce a hallowed and deep tone.

Whether you're going to be playing in a hardcore rock band or an Italian orchestra, you'll need the perfect bass drum for quality sound of the style of music that you're playing. The bass drum also known as the kick drum is the largest drum piece in an entire drum set, and it includes a pedal with a beater-like knob to strike the bass drum and to get that perfect low sounding tone you'll be looking for. There are several types of bass drums and they are all popular among today's musical society.

First, there is what you would call the kick drum. The kick drum is the most popular bass drum used today. It's the same kind of drum you find in a typical rock band such as the band blink 182. The kick drum is also mostly heard along with other drum pieces as part of a drum set. You can purchase kick drums in multiple sizes too.

The second most common bass drum used today is the larger orchestral bass drum. the orchestral bass drum is one you would almost always hear while attending an orchestral ensemble or a concert band. The orchestral bass drum is the largest drum in an orchestra and is sometimes considered (in Italian: Gran Cassa).

Last but not least, is the bass drum used in marching bands and drum corps. The drum used for marching bands and drum corps are always tuned to one specific tone and are played in sets of multiple bass drums together for a fantastic and unique sound.

Let me point out one of the many great things about bass drums! Whether the drummer of a specific bass drum be a child or an adult. Bass drums can be purchased in many different sizes. Yep, that means if you have a child who wants to join the orchestra or marching band at school, he or she too can play the drums with any unique size. Or if you are looking to start a garage band with your buddies you can get a standard 3 foot bass drum for that perfect pitch that a great rock band needs!
